The editor was written to enable the users to edit their images before converting them. With this in mind, you will understand that the editor has no ambitions to be a magnific paint of photo-editing program. If you keep this in mind, I think you will be happy with the editor.
Well, let's start with it then.
1. How to open an image in the editor ?
There are 2 ways to open images at the moment.
The first way is to select 'Open' from the Editor menu. This will enable you to open PICT files (no other formats at the moment).
The second way is to open the picture in the Iconifier, and then choose 'Transfer to Editor' from the Editor menu.
2. Start a new image...
Of course you can also start with an empty image, plain white. To do so, just select 'New' from the Editor menu. A small window will appear, asking you to enter he desired dimensions for the picture. They are given in icons (1 icon = 32 pixels), to make work later easier, cause you will not have to rescale the picture, or to add a border around it.
--- Save and transfer
When you are done editing the image, or you have to do something else first, you can save your work. Again, there are multiple possibilities.
1. Save to PICT file
The main save option is to save the image to a PICT file. This file can be opened later in Pict-2-Icons -in both the Editor and the Iconifier- or in another application. Just select 'Save' from the Editor menu (command-S) and enter a name for the file in the dialog box which pops up.
2. Transfer to Iconifier
You can of course also transfer the image back to the Iconifier. By pressing command-I, or selecting 'Transfer to Iconifier' from the Editor window, the image is copied into the Iconifier, ready to be converted in an icon mosaic.
